The FAST OC Basic Handgun Course is intended for the following persons:

·        Persons who have limited to no experience with handguns

·        Persons who are looking to have a remedial review of handgun safety, handgun operation, and marksmanship

·        Persons who have been ordered by a court of law to attend a firearms safety course

·        Persons who have taken a shorter orientation course but are looking for a more comprehensive understanding of handguns

This course is an 8-hour course (8AM – 5PM with a 1-hour lunch break) and is broken down into a 6-hour academic section with 2 hours of range time.

The following topics are covered during this course:

·        Handgun Safety / Safety Rules

·        Handgun Nomenclature

·        Ammunition Function / Types

·        Marksmanship

·        Legal aspects of handgun ownership / transportation / use

·        Cleaning / Maintenance

Students are not required to bring anything with them to this course as we provide firearms, ammunition, eye and ear protection. Students are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks to suit their needs, but FAST OC does offer coffee, waters and snacks at our facility.

For students who have already purchased a firearm, we can provide instruction on the operation of your handgun as well as instruction and coaching on your firearm during the range time. Students are encouraged to bring their own ammunition for their firearm as an alternative as our ammunition may not always cycle newer guns.
