August 31 - September 1, 2019 Introduction to the AK Rifle Course

This course is for the AK enthusiast that wants to better understand their AK platform rifle and perform better with it from close to long range engagements.

This course will be taught by Kyle Litzie, National Champion and competitor and winner of the Red Oktober, a national level AK competition.

• The mechanical functionality of the Kalashnikov platform and how to properly maintain your rifle.

• Common myths and misconceptions about the AK and the steel cased bi metal jacket ammunition its designed to fire.

• Proper weapons manipulations with the AK platform (reloads, clearing malfunctions, charging ect…)

• Body stance, posture and grip for proper recoil control and controlled rapid fire of any AK rifle from 7.62x39 to 5.45x39 .

• How to properly zero your AKs iron sights ( and or optics ).

• How to use the AK for long range engagements and how to use the Russian style iron sights to dial in elevation.

For this course you will need

• Your AK platform rifle in any caliber (7.62x39, 223, 5.56x45, 5.45x39, 9x19)

• 400 rounds

• AK sight adjustment tool (recommended but I will have one you can use)

• Magazines to hold 60 rounds.

• At least one magazine pouch or a rig capable of holding a magazine for reloads

Loaner Rifles can be made available upon request prior to attending the course

Classroom: We will cover the most common handgun competitions and their rules and what you need to know about each. We cover IDPA, USPSA, ICORE and IPSC as well as discussions about several other disciplines. We'll discuss the scoring and rules and how to stay within them, as well as the gear required and recommended for each.

Range: Now we put what we learned into practice in a 4 hour range session to give you a taste of what it's going to be like in a real match, what to expect and how to do your best the first time on the field.

This course is taught by Van Duncan, IDPA Safety Officer Instructor and IDPA / USPSA / ICORE competitor.

The F.A.S.T. O.C. Intermediate Competitive Shooting course is for competitive shooters looking to increase their skills on the range. This course is designed for shooters who have already been introduced into USPSA, IDPA, IPSC or ICORE matches, and hold the classification of (IDPA: NV, MM, SS) or (USPSA/IPSC: D, C). 

Students will work in groups as well as receive one-on-one mentorship to improve your stance, draw, grip and accuracy

The requisites for this course are:

Safe, competent and experienced shooter

The student must have attended and completed the F.A.S.T. O.C. Introduction to Competitive Shooting course or be an active competitive participant.

Centerfire Handgun
300 Rounds of Ammunition
Holster
Magazines (minimum 3)
Personal Protective Equipment (Eyes / Ears)
